I never really wrapped my mind around the purpose of big data until this week’s workshop challenege.
Having looked at the 5 to choose from, I went on to work on analysing Moon Landings by Accept and Proceed.

The poster is a limited edition print depicting how much land has been explored on the moon by human. After I read through the short little description on their website, I still don’t really get the gist of it right until I started imagining it be hung in my own living room. Lets’ take my friends Josh and Tedman for example, they might come up, we start chatting bout some stuff and then one of em’ would point and say, “hey, that looks sweet!”, and then Ill have to be the one to explain whats’ it about, and the detailed lil’ pieces of information that require you to look closely, sounding super smart.
What this module has taught me to do is to think in a user point of view, and that has led me to start appreciating Accept and Proceeds’ work. There are just these things in life that might not really bother you, but when you do grasp a few fun facts or be able to put some massive event in to size and scale, you feel just a tad more intelligent, reconnecting to something that might be of past or happening right on top of your heads far far away.
Aside from imagining how sweet it is to be able to show off something expensive if I were to own this poster, I started identifying with the kind of people that would buy something like this, and all these scenarios were enabled to play out to make me wonder, “hmm…how much does this poster cost?”.
(I found out the price, and I think I will spend time putting aside some money first)
